Zamboanga: Latin city of the west

 Welcome to Cuidad de Zamboanga

April 7, 2017: we braced ourselves to our new work assignment. Known as one of the oldest City in the philippines. we warmly welcome zamboanga as our new home. We have been assigned here for a minimum contract of 3 months. Yes, hooray to that. Excited it seems this would be my first time visiting and staying here in Zamboanga.

First Impression last

First thing you would first observe in this place was the road.
I remember visiting Cebu City for the first time. It is their road I find narrow compare to the road we had in Gensan. Locally, because this two old cities undergo Kalesa/karitela transportation in 18th century. Fasinating this city it would be. As you go around, pueblo you will see the rich culture that chavacanos had.

Where to go:

As you go around the places you can visit the churches like Cathedral in Pueblo, St. Joseph, Sta. Maria church and the infamous Fort Pilar. They also got malls like : Yubengco, Citymall in tetuan and recently opened KCC Mall de Zamboanga. You can also visit  the famous Sta Cruz island, not far from town. The Butterfly garden in pasonanca and their pool.

Transportation:

You will be surprise on how there would cost you here.

Taking TRICY: min. of 20php depending on how far your destination is.

JEEPNEY: 5 php- 8 php.

there is no taxi so if you got a lot of luggage you've got no choice but to take tricy. As you later, stay here in this city you will soon to adopt their way and policy on transportation. I am taking a jeepney when going to work or going home, just don't go home so late because unlike the other cities. Jeepney are not for 24/7 transportation here in zamboanga.

but what I love in this City. FOOD :)

They are variety of food here which can't be find in other cities. Satti is one of my list  as of now I still got no chance on tasting it. But people here in zamboanga love it.  Hoping to taste it soon.

Next, the Carmelas Buko Pie.
It is originally from zamboanga. A store of different delicacies but what I really  love of all of there product was their buko pie. Affordable and delicious.

Third, is their Fresh Lumpia at Kape Zambo.
Located at 3rd flr. of  KCC Mall de Zamboanga. You will surely love this coffee shop.

last was their Empanada.
It is my first having to taste an empanada which made from sweet potato. The taste of sweet and  sauce  all in all combination is perfect. Thumbs up.

Friends and Alien As the length of our stay getting longer, you will surely gain friends which will taught a lot about their culture and practices. Specially their common language CHAVACANO. During the first 2 weeks of my stay here in the city. I found it really hard to deal with them, they talk foriegn language which I do not know. The feeling that everyone is laughing together and you are just smiling. Trying to understand what are they talking about. But as you stay here a longer than what's in the contract. You will understand them little by little in a funny way.  Beside, there are colleague who are willing to teach their linggu.

Signing Off :)

All things happen for a reason

Each one of us has its road where taking on. But not all that road are long enough to join you. This blog is one of the saddest, story in my life. Life. Though life is the most precious and wonderful gift. It is also the most painful and most vunerable gift.  It may be taken just a flick of a hand or just a wink of the eye. December last year 2016, the father of my boyfriend died. Sadly, he was diagnose with a stage 4 lung cancer last end of November. I can't imagine even to my self to be in that situation as my boyfriend. When I heard the news that night, I can't help to think of my father as well.  That I am not ready to be in that situation. Maybe life has its reason or maybe a limit itself. Maybe God has a reason. But why. Why now. I start asking questions and realization that life is a precious gift it maybe short or long enough to enjoy it. I feel sorry for myself for taking it for granted. It made me realize that life is short no matter what. Age is just a number...
